good afternoon! it is afternoon, is it? good afternoon, everyone or good morning or whatever it is so today i thought i might give you another little tip on using flat pack you know, it's a different application i've had a really great feedback about the facebook live that i did on drawers, so i thought, okay if it's drawers squat drawer they will get so what i'm going to do was to create a a entertaining unit or tv cabinet and i couldn't make a decision on what style i wanted and i decided to just go for something that works with the existing joiner in this room, and so as we already had some

ikea in the kitchen cabinet, i thought why don't we do that for a television cabinet? that saves me having to make a decision which i thought was about time but and so what i've done is i bought three 800 wide drawers drawing it and and actually so we've been originally designed for over a refrigerator so, you know the refrigerator units, but i've put drawers and then rather than doors on them okay, so that just makes it a lot more useful. and so i've got the wall-mounted

so we've got mounting wall from ikea which makes it much easier goes right along the back of it and then the units just hook on to that so that was the first thing but i thought i'd get a bit clever and give them some more capacities so this is the drawer unit, you know, i never got around to it now. they've done it and that's one and then i put a clever little drawer unit inside the big one so like the smaller things like television remotes. and as you can see they're very untidy i've got pens and whatever in there so it just gives you a whole lot more options because often a deep drawer, you know there's a limit to what you can put in it, you know any set things up that fall over

so by putting it smaller one inside just makes the storage more useful so the second thing is what to put on top so i wanted to put timber on top because i've got a timber floor and i thought that that would be you know quite a nice touch and so i went to timbers cheapest which has been sydney but i'm sure you've got to be on you and i bought tasmanian oak this is 38 middle dressed all around and basically what that means is that had all the rough edges knocked off it and it's suitable for joinery. so we had to join two boards. so we've got really wide boards that joins apart incidentally

these cabinets are 370 mil g so they're not very deep you you can get 600 that that was going to be too deep for where i wanted to use it and as you can see just sitting italian it doesn't need to be that that wide so basically what we did was biscuit with the two boards together so basically you there's a special machine i can do it anyone can do it put? it cuts us off in and you put a biscuit in and it joins them together and you plant them together so that they they stay nice and firm until the glue dries and then i'm installed it at the top so

basically, it's because it's 38north nice and chunky you could go down to 19 mil and use flooring but i wanted something fairly thick and so there you go voila one very nice television cover that if i had have gone bought that probably would have cost me a couple of thousand dollars quite probably cost me $500 to make it and that's mainly because of you know a bit fussy about my timber if you've got recycled timber you can use that you probably just need someone that's a bit handy with a plane to clean it up and there you go!
